I’ve made that mistake more often than I would like to admit when the excitement of a new opportunity takes over, and I forget to ask all crucial questions. Below I share the questions; you should ensure you add at least 1-2 to your list for the recruiter and Hiring Manager.

Have you ever accepted an offer, started the role with excitement, and realized you probably should have asked more questions during the interview? I’ve made that mistake more often than I would like to admit when the excitement of a new opportunity takes over, and I forget to ask all crucial questions. Below I share the questions; you should ensure you add at least 1-2 to your list for the recruiter and Hiring Manager. 

These questions will aid you in determining if your next opportunity is the right fit for you. At the end of the interview, asking the right questions can make a difference in your decision to accept or decline an offer. For deciding what questions to ask, the hope would be that some of these questions during the interview should be answered. If you find yourself limited on time, may rank the question based on importance and then ask the interviewer if it’s ok if you submit the remaining questions via email or schedule a time to review. 

Culture

  • How would you describe the company culture?

  • How would someone work best with the team in this role?

  • Can you tell me about the team I’m joining?

Stance on Work-Life Balance

  • Does the company offer flexible work arrangements?

  • What type of employee would work best here?

  • What do you do for your team to support work-life balance?

Leadership style

  • What is your leadership style?

  • How would your team describe your leadership style?

  • How do you support the growth and development of your employees?

Growth & Development

  • What do growth and development look like here?

  • How is success defined in this role?

  • What might my career look like over the coming years here?

In addition to researching the company, the values, and determining the overall fit the questions will also be a guide.
