Are you interested in switching careers? Not sure exactly how to start or what that means? Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Switching careers may seem scary, or the thought of what you may have to do maybe daunting. Below I’ve outlined a guide to help start and steps you should take to prepare for switching careers.

1. Research the Industry

You will want to start by researching the industry you’d like to switch to for your career. You want to learn what skills are needed for the role, also, how the compensation may differ from your current pay. With reviewing the skills start to think about and take note of the transferrable skills you have. If you need to learn a new skill or obtain a certification, start with your local library to see what free courses they offer. Then check with the employer’s career site to know if they may cover that expense.

2. Update Your Resume

Now it’s time to update your resume and career profile. Don’t forget to remove the experience that isn’t relevant for the new role and replace it with the skills that are relevant for the position. Most importantly, highlight your accomplishments!

3.Network

It’s a small world, after all.. Who doesn’t know that song? Well, it’s so true, which is why the next step is to inform your network. Your network can point you in the right direction of people and or companies that are hiring, including help with making a warm introduction.

4.Start to Apply!

Now you can set up job alerts and start to apply!
