Confidence

Confidence is attractive! As you start your search, it will be important that you believe you will get the job and succeed. Confidence will also help you as you begin to land interviews to highlight your experience to show why you’re a good fit for the job.

Create a Plan

Create your winning plan. Make a list of when you’d like to have the new job and what days you will dedicate to submitting applications and interviewing. If there are any new skills you think you may need to learn, add that to your timeline.

Update your resume

Now that you know the type of job you want, it’s time to update your resume. Highlight the skills that are relevant for the job, and don’t forget to include your accomplishments. You may also need to customize your resume for each job to ensure you’re are highlighting all your experience. 

Refresh your profiles on job boards (Linkedin, Glassdoor, Indeed)

You can now use your resume to ensure all profiles are updated. Recruiters are looking for talent, so help them find you by editing your profile.

Tell your Network

Who know’s you’re in the job market? Networking will help connect you with opportunities you may have otherwise not known were available. 

Start your job search

Looking for a job can be a full-time job. To help with maximizing your time, you can set up job alerts to be notified daily or weekly on new postings. Consider then selecting set days to look and apply. 

Research Companies 

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a job title or description but make sure you take time to research the company. Learn about their mission and read the reviews. You can check out glassdoor.com or Indeed company reviews.

Start to Apply

Now that you’ve completed your research, it’s time to start to apply. As you begin to apply, make sure you keep a tracker for submitted applications. Here’s a tip, only apply to jobs that you are interested in.  

Prepare for the interview

Now it’s time to start to prepare for the interview. The job tracker will help you keep track of which jobs are still active and help you keep track of your interviews. To prepare, practice answering interview questions.

Follow-Up

Most importantly, don’t forget to follow up! It may not be easy to follow up on all submitted applications, but you should follow up weekly if you have a point of contact.
