Let’s be honest 2020 was a long exhausting year. Not only did it change how we interacted with others, our home lives drastically changed, and the work-life balance becomes even harder to manage. I’m sure for many, working at home sounded like a great idea until you realized you couldn’t go anywhere. Then on top of everything you now find yourself managing, you are also trying to stay motivated at work. How many can say that everyone at work became a little more annoying last year? Ok, or maybe not.

Well, if you feel like you’ve lost your mojo or motivation at work, I’m going to share some tips on how you can get re-energized with work.

If all else fails, then let’s work on updating your resume!

Set boundaries

The quickest way to enjoy work again is to set work boundaries. Now that many are finding themselves managing more with less, you have to set limits on your time. The lines are now blurred with work, and home life as a lot of offices remain close. Having boundaries will help ensure you have separation and take time to unwind, talk a walk, or enjoy activities with your family. The key to feeling motivating is to ensure you maintain balance.

Start something new

Try something new or start a project or take a new class. Do something fun! That project you’ve been putting off for years, why not start it. Have you been thinking about getting a certification or license to advance your career? Then now is the time. I’ve signed up for new classes and have taken on new volunteer activities, and it’s nothing like starting something new to give you a boost of energy. This is also a great way to get those creative juices flowing, which will translate over to your work.

Set small goals

Goal setting is a great way to increase motivation. Refocusing your energy by setting small measurable goals helps provide a sense of accomplishment to help with the drive to set more goals! A goal could be as simple as making a plan to exercise more. Don’t worry, I’m not recommending you join a club or a new boot camp class, but maybe you start to incorporate exercise into your weekly activities as exercise is a great way to release those good endorphins.

The key to staying motivated is to set goals, maintain boundaries and always have something new and exciting that you want to work on!
What goal will you set for next month?
